Prologue: Once Great
~*~ Year 2017, Wish City, Loner Territory, Kittypet range, nighttime. ~*~ Deep in the dark alley ways of the Loner Territory, in the bad part of town where the Kittypets lived, walked three figures. All were armed and in their early twenties, with one man and two women. Each wore a cloak that swirled around their ankles. The one that walked in front was the oldest and the strongest in rule. His hand stayed on the hilt of his sword, and his eyes darted back and forth as they searched for enemies. He was the only male of their group and walked like he owned every part of the city, even if he didn’t. Yet. The one that walked behind the man was the youngest of their group. Though weakest in rule, she was the best fighter, a talent that showed though her tensed muscles, hunched shoulders and the hand that lay on her poach of ninja stars. The one that walked behind them all was middle in both age and rule and she was the smartest and cleverest. She walked with an unnatural cat-like grace, but still was farther behind then the others, and her breath came out of her lungs loud and harsh, due to past war injures. The youngest sensed the disappearance of the closeness of the woman and twisted her head to sense how far back she was. Instantly she noted how far back she had fallen. “Noth oc shenth himoci!” She hissed to the man. “Tist malee!” He slowed on hearing the woman’s words and turned to wait for the last of their group to catch up. “Don’t think I can’t understand what you said,” rasped the woman in a voice like the splintering of ice, stopping beside the other two, “it was me who found and translated that language in the first place!” “I know that,” hissed the man, “I know you well, well enough to know we have to stop or risk having you collapse on us!” The woman said nothing but just leaned against the wall. Her breathing was still fast but was slowing down rapidly. “Are you okay?” Asked the youngest one, making a mistake she should know not to make. “Of course I’m okay!” Snapped the woman. “I’ll prove it!” And she got up and took the lead, something the youngest one would never have done. At least not these days. The man glared at the other woman, a scorching look that said he knew they could’ve got her to stay put for a few more minutes. The other woman shrugged sadly and waved for the man to go first. The trio navigated their way though the streets until they reached their destination. ~*~ The man reached forward and pushed the door open, leading the group into a smoke filled pub. The place was full of people who had been rejected from the better part of the city after The War. The trio made their way though the mish mash of tables, and stopped in front of a door at the back. “We wish to see Mr. Rimfaxe.” Said the man, talking to a teenager drifting around the door. “Who are you?” He asked, staring at the three. “Somebody Mr. Rimfaxe will be expecting.” Hissed the man. “Not on my watch, Mr. Rimfaxe said no visitors right now.” Said the teenager. “Do you want to be cut and quartered? Asked the youngest, drawing a knife from her belt. The teenager swallowed but didn’t get the change to answer because at that moment the man in question opened the door to see what was happening. “Who are yo... Oh! There ya are, startin’ ta think you wouldn’t show up.” He said, eyeing the trio. “Aren’t yar a little late?” “We are never late, nor early,” said the man, “we arrive at just the time we want to.” Mr. Rimfaxe eyed them for a moment and then beckoned for them to come in. As soon as the door was closed behind them, a steel sheet slid over the door and window, sealing the room. The trio relaxed slightly. “Sit down, sit down. No doubt you walked far.” Said Mr. Rimfaxe. The man slipped of his hood, showing sandy hair that flopped over his face and gray-blue eyes, before seating himself. The youngest didn’t remove her hood but just sat down. The other woman scanned the room quickly and then took of her hood, revealing a scarred face with most of the left side covered by a metal sheet. Her left eye was a red lens and her other an icy blue of the sharpest kind. Amongst brown, slightly wavy hair were two cat ears, one shredded to pieces and flopping over her head and the other no more then a stump. These were the most feared Wishers in all of Wish city. Deadly and talented, it was them who had brought The War that had lain on Wish for five years. They were... “Lord Scary, Lord Gloom, Lord Adder, shall we get to business?” Asked Mr. Rimfaxe. Lord Scary, formally known as Scarynose (if you went back about six - seven years), rested on elbow on the armrest of his chair and cupped his chin in a hand almost all covered by metal. “Yes, Mr. Rimfaxe, I think we will.” Scary answered. Gloom lifted her head and stared at Mr. Rimfaxe with her good eye. The icy blue depths was as hard as ice and filled with loathing and the need for revenge on the one who had done this, the one who had destroyed her body. Blizzard von Clawen and the rest of Wish City. She was ready, they were ready. Years they had waited for this and now the time was right. Soon Blizzard and the rest of Wish would pay for everything the three had lost. Gone were Scarynose, Gloometh and Addeh. These were power-hungry, revenge-filled, blood-thirsty Wishers; Scary, Gloom and Adder, ready to try and take over Wish a second time.

Chapter I: To Close for Comfort
~*~ Wish City, unknown range and territory, just before dawn. ~*~ “I can’t believe we walked all that way for nothing!” Hissed Gloom, the Wisher’s pace was slower then ever but soon they would be at what past for home these days. “It was information, and it might come in handy.” Said Scary, “you of all people should know that.” “Don’t lecture me.” Hissed Gloom, “I know then you on the subject of information!” “Gloom, please be quiet, I can barely hear anything over your ranting, and you can rant all you want once we get back to base.” Said Adder. The Wisher was walked next to Scary and all her senses were straining for anything that would tell of other Wishers. The older woman ignored her. “We knew very well that the president was coming to Wish, and we knew he was bringing Secret Service!” “But we didn’t know he was bringing soldiers.” Pointed out Scary. “Ha! Use your logic Scary; the president wouldn’t just waltz into a city he has never been in before with only a couple of bodyguards for safety.” Scary opened his mouth to reply when suddenly Adder flung an arm across his chest. He halted and waited, knowing that Adder would give the signal if it was safe or not. The woman tilted her head one way and then another, listening for sounds Scary and Gloom would never hear. Suddenly she grabbed Scary and began to pull him into a small, dark alley. Gloom darted in seconds after and the three drew their cloaks more around them and became as still as stone. For a few minutes there was no sound but the screeching of two fighting tom cats somewhere. Then footsteps came in reach of the others hearing and shadows began to creep along the alley wall. “I can’t believe we’re stuck here patrolling dumb alley ways while the others are watching the game back at base!” A voice said. “Quiet rookie! These streets are filled with dangerous people.” Said another, older voice. “Like who? The Elite Force? Oh please, all the really dangerous people are either dead or in jail these days, there is nobody out here but us!” “Only one of the Elite Force leaders was killed as far as we can tell and her body was never found.” “Because it got blown up! I think the tales about the Elite Force leaders still being out there are no more then tales told to newbies. They’re all dead and thank StarClan for that!” “I don’t know... I fought in that war, it was nasty, and those three were unstoppable, I don’t think they would just die, I think at least two of them are still out there.” “Then let’s hope we never find them!” The two voices began to fade and soon not even Adder could hear them. “That was close.” Muttered Gloom. “Too close.” Agreed Scary. “Can we go home now?” Asked Adder.

Chapter II: An Argument Most Foul
~*~ Half an hour later. ~*~ The three soon found themselves in the place they called temporary home. Only four rooms, it had only a bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and a room that fell into the sitting/plotting room slot. “I’m tired.” Muttered Adder, taking off her cloak and placing it on one of the hooks on the wall; she was mimicked by her companions. “Supper first then you can sleep.” Said Scary, heading for the kitchen. “I’m more starving then hungry, so cook quick Scary.” Answered Adder, following Gloom into their sitting room. The Wisher was already curled up on the worn couch, her weathered wings draped over her like a cape. Her scarred tail swished back and forth, its white tip stained by years of dirt and blood. Her icy eye was closed, but her lens eye was still open and watching. “I. Am. Soooo tired.” said Adder, dropping into the only other seating object, a just as worn armchair. Gloom gave a grunt, to show she didn’t care. Scary entered the room and seated himself on the part of the couch not already taken. “What’s the plan for tomorrow? Are we still going to go though with everything?” Asked Adder after a few minutes silence. Scary nodded, but Gloom opened her eye. “Of course we’re going to go though with the plan! We’ve spend years planning and putting things into action for us to stop so close to our goal.” Anger flared in her eye, but then Gloom softened. “Trust me, Adder. In a matter of weeks we will be the rulers of Ww!” Adder nodded. “Just asking.” “Don’t ask next time.” ~*~ Supper – which was soup and bread – was ready minutes later. Sitting around table scarred by dagger and knife marks, silence coated the room, something that was common these days. The three picked at the food, eating but not talking, until Scary broke the silence. “Is something wrong Adder? You’re normally the one talking. You haven’t said anything the whole meal.” “Why bother,” she muttered, “nobody joins in anyway.” “It’s still good to hear.” Adder flung her spoon at the table. “Oh is that what I am?!? Something to make everyone happy?!? Nobody does anything here so why should I?” “That’s not what I meant.” Answered Scary. “But it’s just...” “It’s nothing! Everything is nothing! Look at me, both of you!” Gloom and Scary turned and looked at the standing Wisher. “I. Am. Blind. You can see things; colors, shapes, each other! I see only blackness. I don’t even know what Gloom looks like anymore, since she was injured at the same battle that I was wounded at. Scary, both of your hands are covered in metal because of torture, Gloom can’t even fly anymore and I’m blind! You might as well leave me for the Wishers! What use is a blind leader, hum?” “We’d never leave you for Wish, Adder. We would all have run right into those two policemen if you hadn’t heard them and your skill in battle has help us many times.” Said Scary, trying to calm down the angry woman. It didn’t work. “Is that what I am then? A tool? A safeguard? That bloody war went too far, we were hurt, we were injured, betrayed by Streak and Misty...” Adder trailed off as she saw she had gone too far. “Gloom, I’m sorry, I forg...” Gloom sprung to her feet, her tail puffed up and her wings spread to fill the room. “NEVER speak of my sister.” She hissed, lashing her tail. “I’m sorry, Gloom, I forgot not to mention her!” gasped Adder, her sightless eyes darting back and forth as she tried to figure out wing from body. “THEN WHY ARE YOU STILL TALKING ABOUT HER!?!” Roared Gloom, and with a leap the Wisher launched herself at Adder.

Chapter III: Moon Adder was knocked backwards as she was hit by the leaping Wisher. Screeching like tom cats, the two rolled on the floor, trying to gain the upper hand. “Stop it, both of you!” Yelled Scary, leaping forward and grapping the collar of Gloom’s shirt. The Wisher yanked the hissing woman off Adder, but the fight was not over. Adder leapt at Gloom, knocking both Gloom and Scary back. After a few brief moments of struggling, Scary managed to fling Gloom one way and Adder another. He got to his feet and stretched his arms out so one hand was pointed at Gloom and the other at Adder. They were all bleeding, with Adder being the worst – scratches on her arms and a cut on her forehead. – And Gloom breathing hard, leaning against the table as she tried to get her breath back. “Both of you should be ashamed of yourselves; fighting over things in the past, Gloom! I know Misty’s leaving was hard but you’ve got to forget it. Adder! You should know better by now, and trying to fight back only starts more fighting! Both of you...!” Scary’s ranting was broken of as a figure darted in though the door and into the kitchen. A huge brown tabby paced around her heels as the Wisher tried to get her breath back. “What is it Moon?” asked Adder, swinging her head to “stare” at her best friend. “Police.” Moon gasped. “Searching house... leave now.” The Three leaped into action, grabbing what they needed and then they headed for the trapdoor. Scary pulled back the frayed rug in the sitting room and yanked open the trapdoor. He dropped down first, followed by Adder and then Gloom. Moon came to the edge and called down. “May StarClan Light your path and speed your footsteps!” she called. Adder raised a hand in farewell, and then the trapdoor was shut and The Three were plunged into darkness. The race was on!

Chapter IV: Escape “We must hurry.” Hissed Scary, turning on a flashlight he had taken from its hiding place. The two women nodded in the dim light and then they were off. Navigating the tunnels with eased practiced, The Three headed towards their next base, an hour’s walk at a fast pace. Suddenly Adder gasped and quickened her pace. “What is it?” Asked Scary, hurrying to keep up with the fast Wisher. “They found the trapdoor.” hissed Adder. “There are three...” A baying sound echoed done the tunnel. “... And a K-9 unit!” “We’ll never make it.” Gasped Scary, knowing Gloom had already fallen behind. Leaving her was not an option. “The river, fools!” Hissed Gloom, “We’ll take the boat and head for the island base.” Scary made the turn as the fork came up, and The Three headed for the underground river. Soon the roaring water was before them. Scary climbed down first, followed by Gloom. Just as Adder was about to climb down the K-9 unit and their handlers leapt from the shadows. “Jump!” Yelled Scary. The Wisher dashed one quick “look” over her shoulder and jumped into Scary’s arms. The boat tipped and threatened to turn all the way over. But the two quickly rolled into the middle and the boat settled. The roar of the engine grated on their ear drums as Gloom turned on the boat. Scary moved into the driver’s seat and turned the boat as Gloom cut the rope anchoring it. BAM! A bullet cracked into the edge of the boat, making the two women duck and flatten their selves to the bottom of the boat as Scary roared the boat towards the tunnel opening. BAM! Gloom let out a muffled cry of pain as the bullet chipped her wing. And then the tunnel swallowed them up and the next bullet made a mark on the wall. They had made it. But only just.

Chapter V: Blizzard Von Clawen
~*~ Wish City, ShadowClan Territory, StarClanner range, several hours later. ~*~ “THEY ESCAPED?!?” Blizzard’s screech could be heard though all over the Leader’s building. The Captain of the Guards winced and covered closer to the floor. “DO YOU KNOW HOW DANGEROUS THOSE TWO ARE?!? THESE ARE THE ONES WHO LED THE ELITE FORCE INTO BATTLE AGAINST Ww!!! IF YOU DO NOT FIND TH…” “Un, Blizzard?” “WHAT?!?” She shouted, whipping around to face the pair of double doors. The servant cringed and then said in a small voice. “The torturer has had no progress with the prisoner, Leader Von Clawen.” “NOTHING?!?” “No... No Leader Von Clawen, but we did managed to get Tigerstar out of the whistle.” Blizzard grunted, but was slightly pleased. “Tell the torturer I will be there soon, to speak to our guest.” “Yes Leader Von Clawen.” “Leave us.” “Yes Leader Von Clawen.” The servant left, and Blizzard turned back to the Captain of the Guard. “Have your men and women portal the territory constantly. I want 24/7 portals, and securities posted outside of each major suspects’ house, am I clear?” “But we don’t have the men pow...” “Do I look like I care?!? Get the police force out there too for all I care, the president is going to be here in a few days and if those fugitives are still out there by then, YOU’LL FIND YOURSELF CLEANING THE STREETS FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!! AM I CLEAR!?!” “Yes Leader Von Clawen, I’ll get right on it!!!” yelled Captain Dust LeCornFlake. “You’d have better.” Hissed Blizzard. And then Captain Dust was gone. Blizzard sank into her chair, closed her eyes and began to message her forehead with her fingertips. Since the Mods and her had become Leaders of different territories, trying to keep up with everything was hard. And since that sighting a few days ago of one of the Elite Force Leaders... Things had been down right crazy. She hoped everything would be ready for when the president showed up. “Leader Von Clawen? You have a visitor...”

Chapter VI: Island Base
~*~ Just off shore of Wish Island. ~*~ The engine had been cut and the only thing pulling the boat was the current. The Three were silent as the boat drifted towards one of the islands just off shore of Ww. Soon the island came into view, hidden among the dozen of other islands. The boat was beginning to go off course, but Scary jumped down into the water and grabbed the rope that Gloom threw him. Pulling the boat though the water, he rapped the rope around the dock post and jumped up onto the dock itself. Lashing the boat in better, Scary first helped Adder out, and then offered a hand to Gloom. The woman refused, getting out of the boat herself. As always. Trekking their way though trees and bush, The Three soon came to the run down building. “Needs a bit of work.” Admitted Scary. “You think?!?” snapped Gloom. Adder just sniffed the air and snorted in degust. “Hopefully it’s not as bad inside.” Said Scary, leaning his shoulder against the door as he tried to get it open. After five minutes and all three of them pushing, they managed to get the door open. It turned out a beam from the ceiling had fallen down and landed in front of the door. “We are going to stay here?!?” Asked Gloom, staring at everything with utter disgust. “Yes.” “You had better be kidding me Scary, or I am gonna hurt someone reeeeeeal bad.” “I’m gonna go get some things from the boat.” Said Adder, darting out the door. Scary turned to Gloom. “Please, Gloom can you just help us clean up? I’m sure it’ll look better in a day or two.” “Why? We should have not even left there! We could have taken them!” “Taken them? Has time clouded your mind Gloom?” They had dogs and we weren’t prepared!” “You wouldn’t have hesitated back in The War.” “The War is OVER Gloom! You should know that!” “I do know that!” “You don’t act like you do!” “Will you two SHUT IT!” Adder’s voice cut though the argument. Both Wishers turned to see Adder standing in the doorway with a box of supplies in her arms. “Can’t you two at least try and act like you’re adults?!?” Scary opened his mouth to answer but before he could Gloom spun on her heels and headed out of the room. Adder signed as a door slammed. “Scary, go talk to her.” “Me? Do you think she’ll listen?” “Scary. Talk. To. Her.” “Fine.” “I’ll get more supplies.” Scary groaned as Adder left; talking to an angry Gloom wasn’t high on his “Things I Like To Do”. “Gloom! Come back here for a moment!” Yelled Scary, as a second door slammed. Poking his head around the edge of the door, he was just in time to Gloom storm out of his bedroom. “Why were you in my room?” Asked Scary. “Hole.” Said Gloom. “Sometimes you can still see her old personality.” Muttered Scary. “See whose old personality?” Asked Adder, carrying another box into the first room. “Gloom’s. I asked her why she went into my room and she said “hole” and then went into her room.” “Didn’t she go into another room before that? Mine I think.” “Good point. I wonder why.” “You can go and check, I’m gonna get more things.” ~*~ Five minutes later. ~*~ “Scary, why are you dragging your bed into Gloom’s bedroom?” “Remember that oak tree behind our bedrooms, Adder?” “Yah.” “It fell down.” “I’ll help move my bed.”

Chapter VII: A Visitor
~*~ Wish City, ShadowClan Territory, StarClanner range, later that day. ~*~ “Ahh, Storm, how are you?” “Fine Blizzard.” “Tea?” “Thanks.” Storm FreeFire, Leader of WindClan Territory, sank back into the chair someone had pulled up. “May I ask as to the occasion?” Asked Blizzard. “Does an old friend need an occasion to visit?” Blizzard laughed. “Of course not Storm, it’s great to see you.” The Wisher smiled for a moment then it disappeared. “Actually there is something Blizzard.” Blizzard leaned forward in her seat. “Go on.” “Well... lately we’ve been having a little... gang trouble.” “Gang trouble? None of us have had gang trouble before.” “I know. But... before it was only the Elite Force we had trouble with. Any other gangs or forces were taken care of by them. And these gangs do things differently then the Elite Force. Its not to hard to take care of them, at least at first, they were just petty thieves and pickpockets really. But lately... they’ve been getting worst; larger robberies, car theft. And just last week... a murder.” “A murder? Street gangs do not murder.” “That’s why I’m here, we need help Blizzard, our troops were small to start with and there were a lot of deaths lately, with that illness. You must help us.” Blizzard frowned at this. “Storm, I’d love to help you, but we’ve had sightings of one of the Elite Force Leaders. All my troops are out on the streets looking for them.” Storm gasped. “An Elite Force leader? I thought they were all dead!” “Only Gloom was killed as far as we could tell. Remember, the explosion.” “Yah I remember, but Blizzard! Do you think they might try to... you know... try again?” “Nonsense Storm! What remains of the Elite Force is hardly a fighting set of troops.” Storm shifted in her seat a little and rubbed the long scar on her right arm. “I hope your right, Blizzard. I hope your right.” The ShadowClan Leader looked sadly at her friend; Storm had more trouble then anyone with getting use to the new system of things. “Come on Storm, I’ll show you something that will make you sure that the Elite Force won’t come back.” ~*~ “The dungeons?” Asked Storm, as she and Blizzard stepped off the elevator. The dark haired woman winked and then spoke to the guards on duty. After a few words, they moved aside and let the two past. “Why the dungeons?” Asked Storm again. “You’ll see.” The two soon found themselves in the dungeons. Rows of cells, most of them empty, ran along the walls. The few people in them - mostly Wishers who had fought with the Elite Force in The War or had done some wrong – were sitting around trying to act like they weren’t bored or doing something with the other person in their cell. The two Leaders ignored the prisoners and continued to the door leading to The Deeps. The guards in front of the door were stone-faced and stiff, sworn to guard the most dangerous prisoners in all of the ShadowClan Territory. Giving the password, Blizzard watched as the guard took the keys chained to their wrist and unlocked the two locks within a second of each other. The steel gate over the door slid up, then the first door slid into the way and the second one slid up into the ceiling. The two Leaders stepped in, knowing their DNA had been scanned into a computer a dozen already. Stepping into the lift, the doors slid shut. “Been a while since The Deeps have been used in our Territory.” Admitted Storm. “Same here, its our new prisoner who... requires special attention.” “And who is that?” “You’ll see.” Soon the lift slid to a stop and the doors opened. Stepping out, Blizzard laid her hand on the scanner and typed in her password with the other. The door opened and the two stepped into the most secure place in all of ShadowClan Territory. The Deeps. There was only one prisoner here, in the end cell. Two guards flanged the door, buzz spears at the ready. “Leader Von Clawen, Leader FreeFire. Are you here to see the prisoner?” asked the first guard. “Yes.” The guard nodded and then waved for the other guard to unlock the door with him. Stepping into the dark cell, at first the two Leaders could see nothing. Then one of the guards flicked the light switch, casting light on the curled figure on the floor by the far wall. Chains clinked as the figure raised her head, and the head of a cat rose from her lap. “This,” said Blizzard “is Moon SoulPelt, our newest prisoner.”

Chapter VIII: Kasumi Kalicus
~*~ Wish City, RiverClan Territory, StarClanner range, meanwhile. ~*~ “This isn’t going to hurt is it?” “Of course not dear, it’s only a needle.” “But I don’t like needles.” The Medicine Cat said nothing, but slid the tip of the needle into the girl’s arm. She whimpered, but didn’t pull away. The Medicine Cat pulled the needle out and put the band-aid on. “There, honey, done.” The girl checked her arm and then smiled when she saw it was still okay. “Thanks, Medicine Cat Kalicus!” “Your welcome, honey, run along now.” The girl slid off the chair and ran to find her mother. Taking a few moments to breath, Kasumi Kalicus, head Medicine Cat of the Medicine Cat board, sat back in her chair. Doing flu shots were not her favorite thing. There were many who didn’t want to do it and fought hard to make sure they didn’t get them. “Ready for another patient?” asked a voice from the door to the little stall she was in. “Leader ShootingStar!” Gasped Kasumi, bolting up in her chair. The RiverClan Leader smiled and slid into the seat in front of Kasumi. The Medicine Cat threw away the old needle and got a new one. “How are things going?” Asked Sunneth. “Crazy; cleaning up after the illness and doing flu shots are a few of the things I’ve been doing lately. I’m working my fingers to the bone.” Answered Kasumi. “But things must be just as bad for you; president coming and all. I take it you’ve all been cleaning up the old admin tower?” “Yes, yes.” Muttered Sunneth as Kasumi slid the needle into her arm. The RiverClan Leader seemed to have her mind else where. The Medicine Cat frowned as she saw the Leader’s distant expression. “Leader ShootingStar? Is something wrong?” Sunneth snapped out of it. “Wrong? Nothing is wrong.” She laughed nervously. “Everything is grand, just grand.” The Medicine Cat’s forehead wrinkled and she frowned some more as she finished giving Sunneth her flu shot. “Well if you say so. You’re done Sunneth.” “Thanks Kasumi.” Said the Leader quickly, before she got up and raced out. “Funny.” Muttered Kasumi, but the Leader’s strange behavior was put out of her mind as the day continued. ~*~ “Bye Kasumi! Remember; surgery tomorrow!” Kasumi made a face as she heard the other Medicine Cat’s last words, but she waved anyway. “Bye Angel! See you tomorrow!” Called Kasumi back before she got into the car. Humming a song to herself, Kasumi drove down the road towards home. Mist coated the roads and a full moon hung in the sky. Just as she was about to turn off from the alley she was in to a side road, the engine spluttered and died. “Darn it.” Muttered Kasumi, slamming the dashboard, not only was she going to be late, but the car was old and unless she got someone to jump-start it, she’d be here all night. Getting out, Kasumi opened the car hood, only to get a face full of smoke. Coughing, she waved a hand in front of her in an except to clear some air. As she bent over the engine a voice suddenly yelled something behind her. Jerking up, she whacked her head on the raised hood. Rubbing her head, she turned to see if she could see who had shouted. The road was empty. Grabbing a knife from its place in the glove compartment, Kasumi began to creep in the direction the voice had come from. Reaching the corner, she peered around the edge. Two figures were standing by the wall, one was standing in front and the other was pressed to the wall by the first. “I told you to get that information for me!” Yelled the one holding the other to the wall. “I’m sorry! We didn’t know until yesterday!” Sobbed the second one. Both of the voices seemed familiar to Kasumi, but she couldn’t place where she had heard them. The second screamed, making Kasumi jump. “If you don’t get what I want, then you’re gonna hurt a lot more.” Hissed the first. “I’ll get the information! I will!” “You’d better. Or else.” “Yes! Yes!” The first released the second, making them fall to the ground in a crumbled heap. “If I do not have the information by Saturday,” said the first “Then you’ll find yourself in the same shape as most of your troops were in The War! Got it?” “Yes! Yes!” whimpered the second. “Saturday. Remember. Same time. Same place.” Spat the first and then whipped around on their heels and began to head down the road Kasumi would have turned onto. He or she – Kasumi was pretty sure it was a man – began to pick up speed, until he was running. Soon she couldn’t see him anymore. Kasumi turned back to see what had happened to the second person, but he or she was gone. Kasumi leaned back against the wall and thought about what she had just seen. She couldn’t go the police, she didn’t know enough. But she had to do something... “Kasumi?” “Leader ShootingStar!” Gasped Kasumi, whipping around the find the RiverClan Leader starting at her. “Kasumi, what are you doing here?” Asked Sunneth. The Leader’s eyes darted back and forth. “My car broke down and then I heard voices, and I heard this person telling this other person to get some information for them or they would hurt or kill them or something!” “What are you talking about Kasumi? I was just in that alley and there was nothing there! Maybe you’re just tired and you dozed off. It’s been a hard week for you; you said so yourself!” “Yah, but, those two people!” Sunneth’s eyes narrowed. “Trust me Kasumi. There. Was. Nothing. There.” “If you say so Leader ShootingStar.” Muttered Kasumi, not really trusting the Leader. “Good.” Said Leader ShootingStar. “Now. You said something about your car breaking down...?” Five minutes later, Kasumi’s car was up and running, after Sunneth had given her a jump-start with her own car. But as soon as the Leader was gone, Kasumi went back to the alley, where she found a few stains of blood on the ground. Leader ShootingStar was wrong, someone had been here, but why had Sunneth not wanted Kasumi to know that? Was she somehow a part of it? Thought Kasumi, but as soon as the thought came she pushed it away. Leader Sunneth ShootingStar would never do or have anything done to her like that. It was someone else. Someone Kasumi was sure she knew. But who?

Chapter IX: Torture
~*~ Wish City, ShadowClan Territory, StarClanner range, the next day. ~*~ “AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!” “TELL ME WHERE THEY ARE!!!” “I DON’T KNOW!!! I DON’T KNOW!!!” “TELL ME!!” “THEY DIDN’T TELL ME WHERE THEY WERE GOING!!! THEY JUST RAN!!! AAAAAAHHHHHH!!! PLEASE STOP!!!” Moon’s scream was broken off as she began to sob. The Wisher’s skin was covered with bruises and cuts, and her body shook. Blizzard paced in front of the adult. She had been torturing Moon for hours and so far she had got nothing. “I’m going to ask again.” Hissed Blizzard. “Tell me. Where. They. Are.” “I can’t!! I don’t know!! They didn’t tell me!!” Moon sobbed. Her wrists were bleeding from where she had been shackled to the wall for hours. Blizzard moved to the control panel, and turned up the power a few notches and pressed the red button. Moon screamed again as energy swept over her body in waves; overload her body till she felt nothing but pain. It felt like it would go on forever but soon it began to fade and then stopped altogether. Sobbing, Moon laid her head against the wall and wished for it all to end. Blizzard frowned as she saw she was getting nowhere. Time to start doing things Moon couldn’t ignore. Turning on the walkie-talkie, Blizzard switched to channel 4. “Blizzard?” Asked the static filled voice. “Send me the object we talked about before.” Said Blizzard before she shut it off. Soon the person arrived, carrying a steel box with air holes on it. Hissing arose from the box. Hearing her best friend/pet, Moon raised her head and whimpered as she saw what Blizzard was about to do. Placing the box on top of another, Blizzard bushed one of the buttons on the box; making the bottom pop open and sending Tigerstar falling into a larger thick glass box. The huge tabby snarled and slammed his head against the side of the box. “NO!!! DON’T DO IT!!!” Screamed Moon. “I’m gonna do this wither you like it or not. So if you want your little hissing friend here to not get too hurt, then I advise you tell me. Where. They. ARE!!!” Before Moon could think of anything to say or do, Blizzard turned on the same thing that she had used on Moon. Tigerstar flatten himself to the ground as energy flew though his body. Screeching in pain, he yowled for Moon and for the pain to go. Moon screamed as her friend was tortured. To her, it hurt just as much. She needed to do something. As Tigerstar began to scream even louder, Moon broke down. “OKAY!!! I’LL TELL YOU SOME OF THEIR HIDEOUTS!!!” Screamed Moon. Blizzard smiled, but didn’t turn off the machine. “Tell me of two.” “The downtown hideout! On RiverClan Territory! And Ragged’s old hideout! They build something under it...!!! Please!!! Stop hurting him!!!” Moon screamed. Blizzard turned off the machine and Tigerstar fell to the ground, his hank heaving. Blizzard turned to Moon. “You’ll tell me where to find each and every one of these hideouts. Or your friend here won’t last the night.” Moon nodded and began to reveal dozens of the hideouts The Three used. ~*~ SLAM!!! Moon hit the floor hard as the guards throw her in. Tigerstar followed a few seconds later, landing on Moon’s back. The guards slapped shackles on Moon and Tigerstar’s wrists, ankles and neck, and then left, throwing the two friends into darkness. Moon lifted her head, and stretched sore muscles. Tigerstar curled deeper into her lap as Moon lay down on the cot. “Are you okay?” She asked, stroking his head. Tigerstar lifted his head and stared at the Wisher before he answered. “I would be, if we didn’t keep getting caught. Is it some talent you have?” “Sorry.” “Sorry catches no prey. Speaking of prey, is there food anywhere?” “Don’t think so.” “Bloody Wishers, can’t even feed a cat. I hope those friends of yours break us out soon.”

Chapter X: Old Allies
~*~ Wish City, ThunderClan Bay, Warrior range, nighttime. ~*~ At first glance, the bay seemed calm. A faint ripple swayed across the water now and then, but besides that, this could have been the most peaceful place. “Base One to Base Four, over.” The static voice sounded from the loud speaker, causing the coast guard to jump and knock against the table. “Hey!” Yelled the woman also there. Her hands held two cards, which had been going to go on her card house, which was now a pile of cards on the table. “I spent hours on that!” “Sorry, sorry!” Said the man to the woman, before lifting the speaker and talking into that. “What do you want?” “I’m reporting.” Said the static voice. “And why?” “Base One has to check in on all the other bases once every other hour.” “Let me make this clear. I. Don’t. Care.” “The book says...” “You READ that?!?” “I’m gonna check on a different base now.” “Good.” “Don’t say I didn’t warn you Ragged.” Ragged sighed and put the now silent speaker back. “Lousy newbies.” He muttered. Turning to the younger Wisher, he raised an eyebrow. “Wanna hear a scary story?” The Wisher sighed but laid down her cards and leaned back in her chair. “Oh this is gonna be good.” She muttered. Ragged flipped off the lights and turned on his flashlight. Placing it under his face, he began in a spooky voice... “Once, when Wish was young...” ~*~ “... Slowly, the vampire rose from behind the table, and killed every single one of them and then drank their blood!” Ended Ragged. The Wisher hit Ragged with the pillow she had been resting against. “I’ve heard that one before! And it is soooo lame.” Ragged grinned, but suddenly his smile vanished. “Did you hear that?” “I am SOOOOOOOOO not falling for that.” “No, I’m serious this time! I really heard something!” “Go look then.” She murmured. Ragged got up and walked to the door leading out of the control room. As he turned around the corner leading out of the tower, a scream sounded behind him. Freezing, he turned slowly and called out. “Feather? Is that you?” No answer came. “Come on Feather, I don’t have time for this!” Silence. “F... Feather? You’re starting to scare me, stop fooling around!” Panic rose in his chest as no answer came again. “Feather!” Dropping the flashlight Ragged shot back to the control room. Sliding his hand over the wall he soon felt the light switch under his fingers. Light flooded the room and Ragged drew in a sharp breath. He wasn’t alone. Two people stood in middle of the room; one was just a few feet from Ragged and she whipped her head up as she heard him. She might not have been more then sixteen or seventeen and her skin was milky white. She stared at Ragged with red eyes that blended perfectly with her beautiful face. The second had her head bent over a limp body. A body Ragged recognized as Feather. The women lifted her head and snarled, drawing her lips over straight, sharp teeth. Blood-stained teeth. Ragged stumbled back a few paces and suddenly the younger Wisher was there; her hands wrapped around his arms like shackles. Yelping out a scream, Ragged struggled, trying to break out of the cold, hard, strong grip. He was beginning to guess what these women were. Vampires. “Dear Ragged, it has been too long.” Purred the vampire holding Feather. “W... Who are you?” Stammered Ragged. The older vampire grinned again. “Don’t you remember?” Ragged took in the light brown skin and long, chopped layered hair. Then it clicked. “Maple!” The vampire grinned again. “Whoa! You’re a vampire! What happened there? When? How!” “Shortly after The War ended, it was an accident.” “Whoa!” The Wisher shook his head, then something clicked that he hadn’t thought of before. “Wait... Why are you here?” Maple dropped Feather and strode forward with grace she hadn’t had before. The vampire stopped just in front of Ragged and smiled again. “I’m here on orders.” “Orders? By who?” Silence coated the room, and in it, Ragged saw what he had missed. “They sent you.” Whispered Ragged, horror on his face. Maple nodded. “But... They’re... They’re... Dead! Or at least Gloom is.” “None of them are dead Ragged, they’ve just been faking it.” “Why? Why did they send you! To kill me?” “Just the opposite, they are offering you your old job back.” Again, shock swept over Ragged in waves. He had been a major before, very high in The Three’s army. But when The War had ended, he had been offered a second chance, which he had taken. And The Three offered no mercy to traitors. For the first time, Ragged’s gaze turned from the vampire’s face, to her black-on-black uniform. Black jeans, black pointed boots and black long-sleeve jacket. The only part of color was the fancy, bright red EF stitched on the top left hand pocket. And the stripes and stars on her left shoulder, showing her rank and company. “Major? I’m impressed, but what company...?” “Fifth company, not the old one, I heard they killed the old major who ran it. I can’t remember who she was. It’s strictly vampires. I’ve been training a hand select of newly created vampires.” “Darn, don’t want to run into them in a dark alley way.” Maple grinned again for a moment, and then her face went serious. “Now Ragged, what is your choice? Become one of us again.... or be killed.” Ragged pretended to think it over, knowing he didn’t want to end up like Feather and then made his decision. “I accept The Three’s offer.” Maple smiled and her lips fluttered for a moment, like she was talking and then the other vampire was standing on one side of Ragged and Maple on the other. “Hold on.” Purred Maple, and then they were flying. Cold hands gripped Ragged’s as they raced over the rooftops, running so fast Ragged’s feet never touched the ground. The Wisher shut his eyes and wondered briefly what he had done. There was no turning back now.

Chapter XI: Rebuilding an Empire
~*~ Deep underground, meanwhile. ~*~ Scary’s fist came down on the table with enough force to send a spider web of cracks across the surface. “How can you not track down one little mouse-brained Wisher?!” The messenger rung her hands and coughed. “W… Well, I’m... Really only the messenger... S... Sir...” Scary growled but seemed to find some logic in that. “Tell General Stone I wish to speak with him.” The messenger nodded. “You are demised.” The messenger nodded again and left the room. Scary signed and sank into the chair behind him. “Awfully tired now are we?” Asked a voice from behind him. Click! Gloom stared idly at the barrel of the gun Scary had just unlocked. “I see you’re busy, I’ll come back later.” Scary sighed and put the gun back. “Gloom... Shouldn’t you be sleeping?” “Well excuse me. It seems nobody told me I had a quota of sleep to fill!” “Gloom... I really don’t have time for this. Go back to sleep, we’ve got a big day tomorrow and you need more sleep then us.” If looks could kill... Thought Scary, trying not to meet the icy blue glare of Gloom’s one eye. “I can see where I’m not wanted you know!” Snapped Gloom, twirling on her heels and stalking out of the room. “You know, its mean to talk to her like that.” Said a new voice from behind Scary. “Ark!” “Eeep! Don’t shoot Scary!” “Sorry, Adder, but why is everyone sneaking up on me?” “Haven’t a clue.” Murmured the young adult, lazily seating herself into Scary’s chair. Scary ground his teeth and tried to figure out a way to get Adder out of the room without her exploding. “Hey Scary!” “AAHH!” BAM! “I have to admit Scary, your greetings are getting better, last time you shot me in the head, now it’s the gut.” Said Maple, poking the edge of the blood-stained fabric around the hole in her stomach. Scary lowered the gun. “ WHY IS EVERYONE SNEAKING UP ON ME?!?” “You’re paranoid?” “Not helping Adder. Not helping.” Maple rolled her eyes, her chest already almost healed. “Relax, if I was going to kill you, I’d be drinking blood out of a hole in your neck.” Scary growled. “What do you want Maple?” “I brought Ragged like you asked.” Said Maple, pointing to the awkward mortal standing between the two beautiful vampires. “Oh. Ragged.” Scary sighed, not really wanting to do this right now. “Thanks, Maple and Ash. You’ve done well. You may feed.” The two vampires grinned, before darting out the door, Maple trailing Ash, the other vampire. “Adder. Out.” “We’ll talk about your people skills later.” At last almost alone, Scary turned to Ragged, who was still standing there looking very awkward. “Ah, Ragged. It has been to long old friend.” “You too, Scary. S... Seems you’ve got yourself quite a bit of a joint going here.” “Yes... Indeed. Want a grand tour?” “O... Okay.” ~*~ “Well it seems Maple and Ash brought you in though the east WindClan entrance, so I’ll take you through the main exit and out through The Cavern.” “The... Cavern?” Scary smiled. “You’ll see.” They walked in silence for a few minutes before Ragged worked up the courage to ask the question that hovered at the edge of his mind. “Um... where are we right now? I know Maple and Ash brought me in through a hole in the ground pretty much.” Ragged winced as he remember the cool hand pushing him through the manhole and into the waiting darkness. Scary halted by a set of double doors. Nodding to the Guards, Scary turned to Ragged and winked. “You’ll like this.” Ragged waited as the door was open and then he gasped. He knew this... ~*~ “I can soooo not believe this!” “Gloom... Please, try to understand...” “No, Adder, you understand!” Adder signed as she listened to Gloom rant. As usual, the woman wouldn’t stop for a while. And, as usual, Adder would listen. Because she still thought of the girl as her friend. Even if she was insane, couldn’t let anyone sleep and liked to kill people. Finally Gloom was done ranting, but was still ticked off. “Gloom, want to go for a walk?” Asked Adder suddenly. “Why?” “Just feel like it.” The woman grumbled over it for a few moments then got up and followed Adder. Adder’s stride was swift as she walked done the hallway. “Where are we going?” Asked Gloom. Adder turned her head and smiled at Gloom. Then she quickened her pace, causing her friend to almost run to keep up with the fast Eliter. Soon, Adder stopped at a door, the door to the rooftops. “Why here?” Adder didn’t answer, but opened the door and took the stairs two at a time. Slowly, Gloom followed. Adder was almost dancing in inpatient when Gloom arrived. But the older Eliter didn’t seem bothered. Adder unlocked the door with her keycard, and then danced out onto the rooftops. Gloom followed slowly again, and then stopped beside Adder, and stared down on what they had worked so hard to build. ~*~ Ragged gasped as he saw the giant cavern that stretched out before him. “You... I... How...” Scary grinned. “Impressive isn’t it? We spent years building it, you spent years building it.” “I helped build this?” Gasped Ragged. “How? When!” “Remember O.C.? Operation City?” “Yeah... You’re telling me this is it?!?” “Yes. The finished result.” Ragged just shook his head. The cavern below was filled with buildings, and the light came from huge floodlights that had been hung on the ceiling. It was huge. And filled. People wandered the streets, and some marched. Most of the buildings were two story, except for the one they had just exited. The one which was sitting in the center of the underground city, the headquarters of this place. “How... When did you finish this?” “Well really it’s not finished yet, but it’s almost done.” “Oh.” Ragged shook his head, but then cast his gaze over the city again. “Ww doesn’t know of this does it?” Scary grinned. “Would we be here if they did?” Ragged grinned too, “I see what you mean.” Scary nodded and began to walk into the city, with Ragged following. Ragged tried to take in as much as possible, the brick and stone houses, the small shops, a barracks. There was a lot to take in, and more to plunder. After about ten minutes of walking, Scary stopped in front of one of the barracks. The building had the words “Fourth Company” on the right side of the door. Scary nodded towards the door, “This is your company, its all new soldiers, as we tried to spread our experience as far as possible. They’ve been trained in fighting, but you’ll need to train them to your style.” Ragged nodded, “How soon will you need them?” “Soon, we’ll be marching soon.” Soon, Ragged’s spine tingled. “Ragged... I want to... Offer you something,” “What?” Scary was silent for a moment, then he spoke. “How would you like to become a Deputy on top of your company?” Ragged was stunned, to be offered to be a Deputy was of the highest honor, there had only been about 10 or 14 Deputies throughout the 9 years the Elite Force had existed. “You... Want me to become one of your Deputies?” “Yes. You’re our first choice, we need four or five, and after Kink retired and decided to start a family, we need a new one.” Ragged felt the ground shift under his feet for a moment then the world refocused. Scary waited, silent as he watched for whatever answer Ragged would give. Ragged spluttered over his words for a few moments, and then gave his answer. “I... I... I accept, Scary. Man, I didn’t except this.” Scary smiled, “Good, if you come up to HQ tomorrow, we’ll get the details sorted out. I advise you get some sleep, your bed is in the back room, I think you can find everything else.” “O... Okay.” Murmured Ragged, then looked up, only to stare at the thin air where Scary had stood a few moments ago. Trembling slightly, Ragged pushed the door open and stepped into the Fourth Company barrack. ~*~ Oak sat on the edge of her bunk. She was on the lower bed, with another girl on the top one. All the girls were in this room, and the boys in the other room. Oak wiggled her feet and stretched her fingers. As always, her body was covered with a light dusting of fur, which ended near the heel of her hands. “Hey furball!” Oh great, now the jabs where starting again. Oak had a covering of molted brown and gray fur that was all over her body except for her hands, face and feet. She also had ears and a tail. It was a sad, sad life. “Oh, furball, I asked you a question!” Oh great. “What do you want?’ Oak muttered. “I said why are you here? You’re too young AND you look like some demented cat freak!” Said the woman standing in front of Oak. The teenager looked up nervously but before she could do anything, the door opened and a man stuck his head in. “Hey! Our new major is here!” Silence coated the room for a moment, and then everyone was everywhere at once. Oak tried to think straight, but failed. Instead, she just let herself be swept up and carried by the 15 odd women. Soon, the front room of the building was filled with about 30 to 40 Eliters. Oak stood on her toes and tried to see over the heads of her companions. A man she hadn’t seen before was standing near the door. “Greetings,” He called. “My name is Ragged KillStar; I am your new Deputy and major.”

Chapter XII: The President of the USA
~*~ Gathering Square, Ww, the next day. ~*~ The crowd roared as they waited for the advent that would have people talking for days, the speeches of the president and the Leaders. The streets were packed to the brim; people hanged out of windows and doors, stood or sat on the rooftops or stood on balconies. This was the first time in 4 years the people of Wish had seen all the leaders together at one time. A spokesman came out on to the balcony and waited until the cheering stopped. “Welcome Wishers, to this historical advent!” He yelled into a microphone. “My name is Poison FirePaw from ShadowClan TV and here with me is Misty Brookan, reporter for ThunderClan One, Jemma Wand from WindClan News, Grape ClearWater from RiverClan Global, Oak Smith for SkyClan FourTrees, Wolf That Runs Through Snow from Tribe News, Turtle FurSome for BloodClan PreyPile and Light DarkTruce from Loner Gathering! They will be broadcasting live to those of you who can’t be here today. Have a hand here for our loyal reporters!” He waved his hand towards the Wishers next to him. The crowd screamed for about five minutes then faded out. The spokesman cleared his throat and began again. “Also here with me are the Captains of the Guards!” He waved towards the door behind and intruded each Captain as they entered. “Captain Dust LeCornFlake of ShadowClan!” The brown haired Captain raised a hand a waved, making the crowd roar. “Captain Pine Furlong of SkyClan!” The SkyClan Captain’s eyes darted back and forth, but she seemed pleased she didn’t have to speak. “Captain Holly Primrik of ThunderClan!” More screaming as the Captain entered. “Captain Leafeh LeafPool of WindClan!” Another Wisher joined the others. “Captain Moon ClearWater of RiverClan!” “Captain Badger of Northern Plain from The Tribe of Rushing Water!” “Captain Kosha Wolfe of BloodClan!” “And Captain Shadow DarkPaw of the Loners!” The crowd cheered as the Captains took their places, and then Poison paused, and became to name the next Wishers. “Also here are the head Medicine Cats of our city, who play a very important part. Give them a cheer Wishers!” The crowd roared as Poison named the Medicine Cats. “Head Medicine Cat Wasp StingClaw of ShadowClan!” “Head Medicine Cat Lily ClearPool of ThunderClan!” “Head Medicine Cat Sea SweetSong of WindClan!” “Head Medicine Cat Kasumi Kalicus of RiverClan!” “Head Medicine Cat Connie Contrition of SkyClan!” “Head Medicine Cat Herb of Purple Flower of The Tribe of Rushing Water!” “Head Medicine Cat Heat Heatlerz of BloodClan!” “And head Medicine Cat Lark BirdSong of the Loners!” The crowd roared as the Medicine Cats took their places. Again Poison paused, and then became to name the Deputies. “Deputy Pool SpottedWater of ShadowClan!” “Deputy Squirrel LongFlight of ThunderClan!” “Deputy Flamey Flamezery of WindClan!” “Deputy Aspire Eclipse of RiverClan!” “Deputy Cream DreamStar of SkyClan!” “Deputy Stone That Falls Down Mountain of The Tribe of Rushing Water!” “Deputy Intricate Summer of BloodClan!” “And Deputy Flint LerzFang of the Loners!” The Deputies joined the growing crowd of Wishers on the balcony. Poison cleared his throat and began again. “Now, for the Wishers who make our city possible, give a hand for our Leeeeeeaders!” This time, the crowd reached such a roaring pitch, that it took ten minutes to calm down. “Leader Fire FierceStar of ThunderClan!” “Leader Storm FreeFire of WindClan!” “Leader Sunneth ShootingStar of RiverClan!” “Leader Hail LeeStorm of SkyClan!” “Leader Star That Sparkles in Evening Sky of The Tribe of Rushing Water!” “Leader Schemes Hunter of BloodClan!” “Leader Coyote FreeSong of the Loners!” Poison cleared his throat and raised his voice for the last one. “And now, for the person who made all of this, who led us in The War, who build this city, the person who we have to thank for our world... BLIZZARD VON CLAWEN OF SHADOWCLAN!!!” The crowd went wild as the dark-haired woman stepped out and waved to the crowd, making them scream even louder. Poison gave the microphone to Blizzard, and then stepped back to stand with the camera crews and reporters. Blizzard tapped the mike, making noise scream out, but the crowd quieted enough for her to talk. “Dearest Wishers.” Began Blizzard, “It’s an honor to stand here and see what the work and sweat of our labor has created for our children and our selves. It’s also great to see so many turned out to see us here. Or maybe you just came to see Schemes show up.” Laughter erupted from the crowd, both on the balcony and off. Schemes shifted and pulled the hat the shadowed her face even more down. “However, lets not waste time thanking every single one of you, though I’d like to do that, lets welcome our guests from the white house, the president of the United States of America and his vice president!” Again, more cheering as the white-haired man stepped out, flanked by bodyguards, and the brown-haired, younger woman who was the vice president. Blizzard offered the mike and the president took it, saying “Is this thing on?” into it. He waited until the crowd quieted then began to speak. “It is an honor to be here, at your beautiful city of Warrior’s Wish. As you may or may not know, I’m here to make this a part of America!” The crowd roared. “I’ll like to see much more of your city and I’ll be here to view your speeders races, though I’m not sure quite what that is.” There was a bit of laughter over that. “I’m sure I’ll love it here, and, once that document is signed, you’ll soon have a roaring tourist trade! God bless America!” Only a few cheered over that last one, so Blizzard grabbed the mike and yelled. “StarClan bless America!” The crowd, once again, roared. The president looked a little confused, but didn’t question the ShadowClan Leader. Blizzard lifted the mike again, then spook. “Mr. President will be staying for our speeder races, which start in two days! Make sure you make it, this is one race you’ll not want to miss!” ~*~ “Too right.” Muttered Gloom, sliding her hood down more. Scary nodded, pulling his own cloak more around him. Adder bounced up and down on her heels, shifting first one way and then another. “Adder, stop bouncing!” Hissed Scary. “How? I feel what people are feeling around me Scary! This place is making me tingle!” “Fine! Their done anyway, we can go now.” Adder nodded, and then turned, racing into the alley, closely followed by Scary. Adder paused, knowing Gloom hadn’t followed, and quickly went to her friend’s side. “Gloom...” She muttered, putting a hand on the shoulder of the older woman. “Hurry up you two!” Snapped Scary from the shadows. “Coming!” Hissed Adder right back, “Give me a minute, we’ll catch up.” Turning back to Gloom, Adder felt where the woman’s gaze was going. “You miss her, don’t you?” Muttered Adder. Gloom stiffened under Adder’s hand. “I don’t miss her!” She spat. The woman spun around and followed Scary into the alley, pulling Adder behind her. Leaving the teenager called Misty Brookan behind her. Trying to leave the memories of her sister behind her.

Part One of Chapter XIII: “It’s all in the name of war, I swear.”
~*~ The Cavern, headquarters, two days later, about noon. ~*~ Adder finished wrapping the cloth around her wrists, and then ran her fingers over it to make sure every part of cloth was tucked in and tight. She twisted around as she heard Gloom enter the room. Adder knew Gloom’s breathing patterns as well as she knew her own, her fluttering heartbeat was something Adder could pick up across the room. Her ragged breath that always sounded like it was about to stop, her lungs that seemed to heave though her body was calm. Gloom had always been a strange person, now she even stranger. And so frail. “How do I look?” Asked Adder, doing a little spin. “Do I really care?” Muttered Gloom, her voice still loud to Adder, even when anyone else would never have heard it. “ I care. Besides, it’s a public appearance we’re going for here.” “Whatever, I wish we didn’t have to do this.” “I’ll be fine, Gloom. I always am.” “There’s more at stake then just you, Adder. We can all go under if you fail at this.” Adder signed. “I’m not going to fail Gloom, I’ve done this a million times.” “But…” “Gloom, if I didn’t know better, then I’d say you were worried about me.” Gloom frowned, and changed the subject. “Well, Scary wants you downstairs now, so get your things.” Adder nodded, and watched as Gloom left. Turning back to her bed, she felt a tingle of fear creep down her spine. ~*~ Scary slipped the money over the counter and nodded to the Wisher behind it. “Tickets for two, and a pass for a racer, please.” The Wisher got the tickets and the pass, and then slipped them under the glass. “Thank you.” Muttered Scary, giving one ticket to Gloom and tucking his in his pocket. The Three could barely be recognized, after contacts, hair dye and a few other things. They weren’t going to miss this for the world. Okay, maybe the world. “You okay?” Asked Scary seeing the Eliter shiver as she got her pass. “I’m FINE!!!” Snapped Adder. “I beg to differ.” Muttered Gloom. “Shut it, you two.” Hissed Scary, “We’re going in now.” Going though the gates and stepping out of the flow of people, Scary took out a map of the race grounds and looked it over. “Adder, you need to go down to the racers’ lockers, sign in and then see your speeder. Gloom, you and I will go to our seats and relay instructions through to Adder.” “Scary, we know the bloody plan.” “I’m just -“ “Your being quiet, Scary.” “Hey! Gloom! Scary! Cut it out the two of you!” Snapped Adder, breaking into Scary and Gloom’s fight, “Scary, just tell me where to go, and then you two can be on your way.” Scary signed and told Adder. She repeated the instructions back and then leapt off, happy to have a few minutes to calm down. And get away from the other two. Making her way through the crowds, she soon came to the building she hoped was the one she needed. “Um... Excuse me?” Adder tapped a person on the shoulder, “is this building five?” “Yep,” the voice was young, maybe sixteen, and female. “This is my first race, it is yours too?” “Yes and no, I’ve done some speeder stuff, but no races.” “Oh, good luck.” “You to…” Adder trailed off as she stepped into the building and the wave of emotions swept over her. Fear, panic, sickness, excitement, a little more fear… it rushed over Adder in a wave, making her feel for a moment each and every one of those feelings. Panic lingered the longest, and Adder knew it was her own this time; the feelings that had sat in her chest all day were coming out. Trying to push them back, she followed the teenager through the dozens there and to the sign-in booth. Adder swept her senses over the teenager as she filed her paperwork, trying to remember everything she did. Finally, it was her turn. “Name?” Asked the person at the desk. “Viper DewClaw.” “Age?” “20.” “Speeder model?” “Speed-X 3000.” The tapping of the computer keys stopped as the person typing up Adder’s information heard the name. “A Speed-X 3000? Isn’t’ that… A little old?” “Maybe, but its fast.” “Hum.” Soon, Adder left the desk, her name tag on and her heart thumping. Not long now… Stepping into the garage, Adder found the last speeder, older then the others, but the sleek machine was perfect. She ran her hand over the metal, feeling where the dents from past racing had marked it and how clean it was. A voice sparked in her ear; bring her back from her memories. “Adder, we’ve planted the object, and the first round is starting in a few minutes, you’re in round three.” “Okay, and I know when my round is, Scary.” “Just checking…” Scary’s voice faded from Adder’s ear and she sat herself down in a chair nearby. After a few minutes the crowd cheered and the blast of the starting gun rang out. Adder sat there for about half an hour, until the first round was done, then through another half hour as the second round finished, and then, finally, the call for the racers of the third round was called and Adder got up and followed everyone outside…
